The 47 Ronin.... who ARE these guys?
I am here to lay out a few facts about our squadron in a thinly-veiled
attempt to get you to join our ranks and start having a LOT more
fun in the "Late War Arena" of Aces High.
Grab a cup of coffee, as I'm pretty darn excited about who we are,
what we do, what we offer, and how you can become a part of our
band of fun-loving pilots, and it might take me awhile to present
myself, my squaddies and most importantly, the squad itself.
What we are:
We are a mid-sized squad which operates entirely in
the "Main" or as it's formally called "The Late War Arena".
While our name and the general theme of our website is "Japanese",
we fly anything and everything in Aces High. If it's got wings, we
fly it.
If it doesn't, as in the case of GVs, well, we occasionally do those as
well. If there's an interest at the time for a GV mission by the
squad, there's nothing stopping us from making that happen.
Do you like to fly bombers? We do 'em and we can provide you
with other bomber pilots to fly with and/or an escort to keep an
eye on you as you head into enemy territory.
Do you fly fighters? Well, if that's the case, we do a LOT of
that, performing pure fighter sweeps, aiding in Rook captures,
attacks, and base defenses by flying both light and heavy fighters, and
generally "contributing to the Rook war effort".
Who we are:
Our squadron is comprised of 21 pilots at this point in time.
Half of these fly quite regularly over the course of the week and
weekends. If you fly between the hours of 7-11 PM, you'll usually
find anywhere from 4 to 7 of us "in the air".
Our ages run the gamut between 18 to 61 years and we are a very
light hearted and fun-loving group of people. Some of us have
been around Aces High -and- it's predecessor Air Warrior for a
LONG time. In my case, 23 years, with long breaks taken over
the course of those years.
Were I to venture a guess, I'd say we've got a combined 120 to 150
years of experience between Aces High ,Air Warrior, and Warbirds.
So, we've been around the block a few times and have an established
reputation both as a squad and as individuals.
You can see a list of our active pilots here:
http://the-47-ronin.org/ronin-roster-page-files/UntitledFrameset-2.htm Who you are:
(a) You're a Late War Arena pilot tired of flyin' and dyin' alone.
You want a wingman. We've got you covered. And trust me
on this, we fly just about every plane in the game at some
point over the course of a few months.
(b) You're in a "we have a squad name, but we don't do anything"
together" type of squadron. This is a recurring theme these days
in Aces High. There's LOTS of squadrons, but very few in which
the C.O. (that's me) takes an active interest in each and every one
of his pilots and works hard at ensuring they're havin' fun,
gettin' some kills and have a squadmate or two helping them
out with whatever they're doing at the time.
Get yourself into an active, fun-loving, and squad oriented group
of folks like The 47 Ronin and your level of enthusiasm can only
go UP.
(c) You're looking for a challenge. You want to "pick up your game"
a bit, setting goals for yourself over the course of a week or tour.
We've got that covered as well.
Hit this "Campaign Ribbons" page link and take a
gander. Before Aces High introduced their new "Achievements"
in-game, The 47 Ronin established it's own set of standards and
achievements.
http://the-47-ronin.org/Ribbons-page/UntitledFrameset-10.htm There are challenges galore to be found and accomplished no
matter if you're a fighter pilot, bomber jock, tank driver, field-ack
gunner, or naval gunner, or even a C47 pilot or M3 driver.
As well, hit this "TD Scores" link .
http://the-47-ronin.org/tours-of-duty/UntitledFrameset-5.htm Monthly presentations are worked up at the end of each "Tour" (month)
based on pilot stats pulled down from the Aces High website.
These "awardings" are then worked up and the "campaign
ribbons earned are placed on The 47 Ronin Roster page.
Even "secondary" or follow-up awardings are tracked as can
be seen by the additions of colored "devices" attached to many
of the ribbons on the Roster page.
(d) You want to become part of and help build and sustain a -functional-
squadron in Aces High.
Got skills? We can use 'em. New to Aces High and need to develop
skills? We've got you covered.
Got an idea for a mission you'd like to try and implement with a group
of fun loving squadmates? Absolutely, we'll give it a whirl !
(e) You'd like to participate with the squadron on an evening when the
majority of us are "on"? We've got "Squad Night" one night per week.
This is the night where we all try to hook up and run missions for
a couple of hours. Squad Night happens every Friday night at
9PM Eastern U.S. time.
So, what are you waitin' for? Hop over to the Rooks
(if you're presently a Knight or a Bishop), tune "147"
and join in the fun. Fly with us for a bit and if you like what
you're seeing/hearing, just holler and I'll be more than happy
to shoot you an "invite".
And for you guys that are currently flying Rook, you know me,
"OddCAF" or "Oddball". (The "CAF" on my handle is from my
old Air Warrior days when I flew as a member of the
"Cactus Air Force".) and you know the guys I fly with;
my beloved "Ronin".
Become a part of that and start havin' a LOT more fun.
Life's too short, so ditch those "squad in name only" colors and plaster
on a set of "The 47 Ronin" colors.
