Training Scenarios for Offline Practice
« on: April 25, 2016, 09:12:42 PM »
Some people have mentioned that you can download missions or scenarios for use with the offline practice arena.  So how about some built-in training missions?

Have a series of missions that teach basic aerobatics and combat maneuvers.  Set it so that once I am in flight, I can activate the training mission, and there would be a training plane with a recorded message telling me how to do a particular maneuver.  Then I would follow the plane through the maneuver.  It would repeat over and over until I exit the mission.  There would be a separate mission for a loop, spit-s, roll, etc.  Nothing real fancy, just the basics.

I firmly believe that someone brand new to Aces High, especially someone new to flying games, should spend some time in the practice arena learning how to fly, before he creates his online account.  Creating some training missions like this could lower the frustration level for new players by helping them up the learning curve.

That is a very good idea.

The flavor of these kinds of things at least in the past has tended towards player generated content and the Trainers generated content. The tools are generously provided by Hitech in your game downloads. Unless I'm personally on some global list to keep me in a dungeon with no light to grow mushrooms. The real issue of these kinds of content has been one of simple marketing of the content after collecting it into one place to standardize it. The closest thing to that is contacting the Trainers for 1v1, the addition of the orange help channel, and the AH2 film collections on players Youtube channels.

Could be this is by design so new players have to become involved in the community to learn our very hands on game. I believe in AH3 there will be a 24x7 AI mission arena to learn from. By then I hope those AI are tuned down from muppets on steroids to normal vets with hangovers.

Agreed.  If memory serves, Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Simulator had something like that, back in the day.

I thought the Trainers had started to compile some offline training missions. What happened to that?

First I heard of it. You may be thinking of training films.
