the reason I havent been in the ww1 arena is due to the few players that would stay high and just come down as soon as you cleared the ack on the base.  which is the same reason why furball lake turned into nothing.  more than a few players would just stay high and nailed you as soon as you took off.

I figured might as well stay in the ma.

That's why having more than one base is a good idea. If some one high and picking over one base, you can roll from a base on the other side, get some alt, and go fight em. If you have a cluster of bases it keeps players from just hanging out over one base capping the field.

Here is one way to get your idea floated in the AH3 (now beta) version.  Make a custom event (again AvA has taken the lead and done this along with Nefarious' Combat Challenge).  Set up the arena anyway you wish and get it promoted.  If it becomes popular enough and is frequented enough, it may warrant its own Arena.

Currently, it appears there is only a "One v One" Arena and at least for now the DA and TA are not listed.  I personally enjoy the 1 v 1 airspawn duel, but currently there is no choice in plane (randomized between Ki84 vs Pony).

I suggest that you (all) talk with Nefarious and/ or AvA staff and get something rolling during beta.  I have stated this many times, so here again, the most lasting fun memories of Aces High aside from squad foolishness, was the Main Arena map that first introduced the furball lake.  I would predict the return of larger numbers if that sort of action was available again.

Yeah this could work. I don't think anything is going to work If it is not on the front where the MA is. It could just be called Free for all and dueling arena. Keep the exact same map you have now, but restructure the furball area. Make it a cluster of 5 green bases with no alt advantage and a few or 0 mountains. Post a rule clip board with no vulching and  no bad language. State that it's a free for all in this area. If you have to keep the whole map green it's still fine.

The air spawn sounds good at first. But it still creates advantages and makes it easier for planes to climb even higher.

You really don't have to change anything except turning the bases green and restructuring the furball area.

pot shots at hot shots

 :rofl :aok

I have high hopes for the rolling 1 on 1 arena assuming it allows choosing the planes (duel mode) as well as random selection. Master of this plane or that would be a bonus. My 'main arena' used to be the furbal lake, but even the most dedicated DAers have now either gone or are seen occasionally in the MA. It's too bad too because that crowd usually went balls-deep into a fight and just re-upped if they lost. Took a lot of adjustment for me moving to the MA. So much pre-fight fannying around and disengagement if the outcome is less than certain.

Maybe HTC could bring back fighter town?

I forget the map name but it was similar to furball lake in the DA,except it was in the MA so you would find Buffs,PT boats and fighter all around the lake.

Was incredible fun and a perk farmers dream!

Morfeind,

I thought the DA Furball lake was that part of the old map you are describing put into the updated DA way back when. It could be recreated something along the CraterMA theme but, you would really need to make the three lake airbases uncapturable. Or spiteful late night greifers would keep them captured to deny everyone any chance to use them once they got kester hurt by happy furball monsters giving them beat downs.

Regardless of being bombed, having three uncapturable airfields with three way GV spawns between all of those fields might work. Thinking about it, some genius did a great job with that island with three air bases and all of those GV bases in between. The theme could be expanded with a lake for PT fights and in AH3 there are some excellent villages setup as objects you can randomly lay down before laying down the GV spawns. Something like this the furballers could furbee all night, the GV furballers could join them, and the tool shedders would have the rest of the map to roll unprotected bases to their heart's content.

I know, the toolshedders would get lonely and greif the furballers by keeping their uncapturable airfields shut down all night long. The bomber guys have a lot of control over our game in their single index finger.......

IIRC you could capture the bases around the lake but it was all but imposible to do,you had less resources than we do now but the sheer volume of players in the area made it very difficult at best to even attempt a capture.

Vulching was rare as it was difficult to de-ack the base, and we had fewer guns then!

Bustr,I believe you are correct about the map being transformed into the DA, IIRC it was also where you could find the "squid".....
