Electronic genius needed
« on: July 16, 2016, 10:44:27 PM »
I have been planning on doing this for a year now, but I just do not have the time. My plan was to design a simple electronic kit to accompany 3D plans (adjustable to suit users) for a joystick. Something that isn't cheap, but that is designed around very sound electronics (pots or sensors either one). This should be incredibly easy to do, but it will take some preparation and forethought.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

not clear what you are asking for....3D plans.....planes???..........

If you are talking about plans for joysticks.......I could talk what I used for mine. You can also purchase highhat board controllers.

Not at all. What I'm asking is for someone to step up and draw up the Inventor model (or similar) for a CNC "print" for a joystick. You could then print it from plastic, or various metals or a mix. I think there is even a ceramic printer now. Then buy a basic electronic kit for the USB wire, buttons, and so on. Ideally, the end user could scan their hand and then the model would self-adjust to suit, so that the buttons would never be a stretch to reach.

It's possible that not enough of these machines are in our community yet, but I know of at least two local firms that have them. There are a few good sticks on the market, but you also see some delays when they run out of stock. Perhaps it is still too early for something like this.

Now I understand your intent.

3D printers and printing has many new avenues. I would ask, what you appear to want is a way to mass produce customizable/scalable joysticks and flight gear, via software and use of a 3D printer, yes?

So the question is of demand, ultimately. Who the bleep knows.................

I will give you my limited experience. As you know I build my own gear. I build it simple, with readily available parts and materials. I thought about putting kits together for various ww2 combat stick variations, ie: Japanese, Russian, british, usa  All have specific mechanical differences. Keep it simple, provide the gimbals and plans and the slightly difficult parts.....make it possible for the more avid to take his/hers personal involvement the next step.

Nobody really cared, ultimately. There are plenty of available joysticks out there. Its too easy to buy and use the existing hardware offerings. Most want jet sticks, and unless what you got is super duper fabulous, makes you a proven vr killer...........

good luck in your endeavor.
 :salute

ps; fact is its too dam ez to build your own gear without 3D printing. radio shack, leo bodnar, some wood and bolts and springs...............

CNC and 3D printing are separate processes.
CNC cuts out shapes from bulk materials, 3D printing builds up shape from liquid material.
