Announcing AH3 AVA Wars: Tour 1
« on: August 01, 2016, 07:22:08 PM »
Starting this Saturday August 6, 2016 at 9pm EST in AH3 AVA:
The AVA Staff Proudly announces.......

AVA Wars Tour 1
Battle for Europe:

Germany and England are duking it out. Germany is sending
all its fighters and attack fighters to Brittain to bring Churchill
and the RAF to its knees. Britain is within 2 months of its air power
and resources collapsing under the strain of the German onslaught.
England is putting up a fight as best it can with what it has available to it.
This battle is a real battle of wits and will. Who will come out ahead.

This setup and battle will encompass all the best aspects of Aces High!
There are and will be plenty of opportunities to try everything
the game has to offer. We really hope you enjoy it!

Over all objective: Capture more bases then the other side.
Allied objective: To not only get a foothold in Germany, but to move forward.
Axis objective: To get a foothold in England and annex the country as part of the master plan.

This battle starts as an invasion with 2 vehicle spawn points on both sides of the English channel.
This battle will be mostly Geared to a ground war, but not completely.
Start Bases:
Allies start bases: A11 and A15
Axis start Bases: A91 and A95

Vehicle spawn can be supported by aircraft and vehicles. Aircraft must fly from assigned airbases.

Luftwaffe bases
A99:   BF109E-4, BF-110C-4b
A117: Ju88A-4, H111-H

RAF Bases:
A1: Spit 1, Hurricane 1
A5: Boston

Radar will be on with a 10 second delay. This means you will be able to see enemy aircraft
and where they are spawning from. An Air Traffic Controller(ATC) will be helpful.

Aircraft Lives: Unlimited lives in this setup. This setup is about base captures not points.
Therefore all planes will have unlimited lives, as will all GV's.

Anti-aircraft and Manned guns: all guns will be active. This is an all out war!
Anything goes! down time for ack will be 30 minutes, but most downtimes will be
left as MA standard.

Base Capture: He who captures the most bases wins! this is a 3 week event run
in conjunction with the FSO. The AVA cannot run logs so its all about base capture.
This setup is not designed to be like regular scenarios, its designed for the best side
to win! Bear that in mind. If Germany beats England, so be it. The more people you
recruit to play, the more fun it will be!

Times and Dates:
Saturday Night August 6, 2016 9pm EST to 11pm EST.
Saturday Night August 13, 2016 9pm EST to 11pm EST.
Saturday Night August 20, 2016 9pm EST to 11pm EST.

JU88A-4
HE111-H

Jeep
M3(including tank killer with 75mm)
M8
M16
Panzers(limited to HE only)
SdKfz251

Allies:

Boston
Spit I
Hurricane I

Jeep
M3(including tank killer with 75mm)
M4's(limited to HE only)
M8
M16

Start time: 9pm EST Saturday Nights (Saturday nights where theres a FSO on friday night)

Bombers: Unlimited lives. No formations. level bombing or NOE.
2000lbs of bombs Max.
Radar: dot dar tower only, range ring active. ATC allowed. 10 second delay
radar minimun altitude 200 feet. darbar radar for NOE missions.
Fighters: unlimited lives.
Manned Guns: active.
Objects destroyed : Most stay down for MA standards. AAA and VH's, Fighter hangers 30 minutes
GV's unlimited lives.

To start each side has one base to take and one base to defend.

Since certain planes come out of certain bases, tactics would behoove you to find
out whats coming out of active based and bomb fighter or bombers hangers to
stop other side from launching. Protect hangers with field guns and stop bombers with fighters.

All bases will have GV's, but not all bases will have planes.
Radar Range: 39600 feet(6 miles)
Icons: 3k Friendly 0k enemy. (our testing shows you will be able to see eneny planes without any issues even with icons off.)
AAA: .25
Weather: variable.
Terrain: AVAETO
Hanger down times--30 minutes
AAA down time--30 minutes.

For balance: When we introduce the panzers, they will only have HE rounds(this is subject to change).
After thorough testing we've found that HE works very well against both the M8 and the M4, but you
may not necessarily get the instant kill. It may take 2 or 3 or more hits to kill one.
This has been done for balance and for spawn camping. Our testing shows, only side shots are kill shots with HE.

Base capture definition: capture a base, change hands. each time that base changes hands, its
considered a capture. If a base starts as a bishop base, and is captured, then lost, then captured
again, it counts as bishops 1 capture, knights 2 captures. each captures counts as a capture.

Base capture settings: because we are unsure how many
players will participate, base capture settings will have a sliding scale.
set at 20% down, and as each player joins, it will be increased 1%
per player. with zero players 20%, with 20 players 40% with 25 players, 45%, and so on.

All support aircraft will be positioned to be rear of the front lines, in order to prevent close
in support by enemy aircraft. flight times will be close to 10 minutes with bases that the
aircraft are stationed at, will move with the front lines as more bases are captured.

*** The AVA staff reserves the right to make changes, as the community and gameplay demands it.
This is a work in progress and we want everyone to have fun! Please help us by making comments,
good, bad or indifferent as needed to develop this as necessary. Please Help make it a fun
and successful tour 1.

certain plane and tank loadouts have been disabled.
planes have their loadouts adjusted to 2000lbs based on the boston.
panzers and M4's have had their loadouts adjusted to least amount of AP, to prevent sniping and camping.
M8's, M3's and SdKfz251's have been left with full loadouts.

bases closest to spawn points have had their main battle tanks removed, but will get them back
after first capture of that base.

Well if you missed it, you have no idea, what you missed!! it was a outstanding setup. we did have to tweak a few things for next week,
but everyone had a great time.

between the match up and the base setup, was quite evenly matched. fighters were relatively even. the bombers vs jabo/bombers, was also
very evenly match. it was just a really really good time.

hopefully we'll see you next week. check it out and join us for a night of fun and excitement!

The next frame is going to be next Saturday night August 13, 2016  at 9pm EST. please join us if you can.

Not sure what was happening for me and Dragon, but we both experienced instant crashes to desktop when trying to launch planes.

Please report these in the Beta forum as well and don't remove any files. These stability issues are exactly the kind of thing they are looking for now. They want to figure out why you had the issue and fix it.
Easy in-game again.

I seem to recall you said it only happened with this AvA custom terrain?  If so, it might be due to some kind if resource issue as this is a big terrain with custom strat objects.  Easyscor could explain better how many objects this terrain has.   HTC would probably be interested in your system specs so they can see how the Beta performs (or fails to) with complex terrains.

It's a mystery. The terrain is about 10,000 objects short of the maximum 55,000 count and as mentioned, Devil was able to get in and play after an arena reboot this morning. Most items are htc default and even the ground tiles are default. Obviously we'd like to get this fixed so it doesn't happen again.
Easy in-game again.

Well frame 1 is behind us, it was quite the spectacle last night. First the Axis hoard(all 4 of them) viciously attacked A15. the onslaught was tremendous.
Then enemy sneakily approached the town and began to destroy it one building at a time. the defenders fought back valiantly fought off the attack,
but realized that with overwhelming odds, then need something bigger and better.

soon they brought the BostonIII's weight to bear on the situation.  as the bombers struggled to find targets, it was realized, that they couldn't see them unless
they were moving. bombs were dropped, guns were fired, and a whole new firefight began and continued for some time!

then the Allies came up with a plan! "lets go after their base and distract them!". so the allied Air force of 5, jumped in their trusty Bostons and spits and hurricanes
and headed across the channel.

Due to the Luftwaffe ATC(air traffic control) they were soon spotted and AAA guns were waiting. shuffler suddenly developed a keen eye for targets in the 88's and blasted me several times. the ack was everywhere, projectiles dropping, planes exploding, women and children screaming!! it was quite the show!

at the end of the whole thing, no bases were taking and everyone left as friends! such a great night, you really should try it out.

the end result: scored as a draw with no bases captured.

join us next week for Frame 2 of the Battle for Europe in AH3 AVA
http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,380549.0.html

you'll have no idea what you're missing until you try it out.

<S> to all that participated. see you all next Saturday night August 13, 2016 at 9pm EST
