After Thursday's storm we'll have a very brief "relative" break Friday evening into Saturday morning with just blustery winds and scattered showers, but a second, more powerful storm is looming for late Saturday morning into Saturday night.

This one is the strongest storm as it is the remnants of Typhoon Songda that is currently swirling off Japan and will race across the Pacific Ocean this week. Forecast models have the center of the low when it arrives off our coast as deep as 955-958 mb (~28.20") -- a central pressure on par with a Category 3 hurricane (although this is NOT a hurricane). As of now, the track of this storm is expected to turn to the north and make landfall up around the northern tip of Vancouver Island or perhaps even a little north of that.

But the deep low will be close enough to likely trigger very strong winds along the coast and Northwest Interior. If the storm stays on that northerly track, strong winds in the Puget Sound region would be mitigated by the Olympic Mountains, but if the storm track were to shift farther south and/or if the storm were to carry inland farther east, then winds would be a greater concern in the Puget Sound region. Stay tuned there -- this has potential based on incredible storm strength to be a significant widespread windstorm if the track ends up closer.

I'm to run the practice frame of "Tunisia 1943" on Saturday.

I'll work to get a backup CM now.
