AH2 VS AH3
« on: October 07, 2016, 09:57:45 PM »
Hey guys,

I've been playing AH off and on since the original AH1. I really didn't play AH2 enough for it to be burned in my memory. I was just wondering from you guy what differences have you noticed from AH2 going over to AH3 i.e graphics, gameplay, etc.  Sorry if this has already been posted. Thank you guys I'll see you in the skies just paid for a month of AH.

Why do you want input on a game you really didn't play?

I'm not trying to be a dick, but play AH3. If you enjoy it please keep playing and tell others to give it a try. Or you can just walk away from the game. Maybe tell others to give it a try aswell.

Many times finding a good group of guys to play with is all you need to stay around.

I've been playing tonight. From the little I remember about AH2 it seemed like the same to me. That's why I'm asking people who actually played both because they will be able to give a good comparison. Thank you

Graphics much better, and I don't know what you expected as far as game play. You can only do so much in this type of game. I think it covers the WWll feel very well.

The changes have been mostly graphic wise. This had changed the ground game a bit, but the flying aspect has stayed pretty much the same.

With the new terrain (no more pyramid style mountains) the land play is better. The towns/field layouts are no longer on a flat tile and so have elevation changes and such to add to the "hunt and seek" type action of a tank.

The biggest add-on is the VR (virtual reality) tools. VR head sets now work and ....from what I hear bring a whole new "immersion" to the game.

This actually sounds pretty cool. I'm going to have to read up on this.

There have been improvements to the terrain, GV fighting is, IMHO, more fun, because there's more of a "cat and mouse" feel to it. The planes look great, and still have the excellent flight modelling that HiTech is known for.  VR ads more to the game than I can describe in words. I have the Oculus Rift, and though it's not cheap, it's worth every freakin penny I paid for it. IT's the closest thing to actually flying that you and I are most likely to ever get, since we'll never see the insides of a real WW2 plane, or a military grade simulator. If you can find anywhere that has a demo model, you can get a mild idea of what it's like, and I can tell you it's awesome.

The biggest change is audio, but also there have been pretty stout changes to the lighting system. HTC had gotten the game to the point where expanding into improved lighting and audio were a great idea to improve nearly every aspect of the game.

For instance, the terrain. How many people have noticed that the islands of Mindanao are no longer roughly hewn and craggy looking? Now you have rice paddies, corn fields, apple orchards, palm trees, rows and rows of kale, and banana trees. The terrain interacts with your vehicle in new ways also.

The lighting works so well now that we already have people complaining about vehicles being impossible to find. It is even more important now to have smoke capabilities to mark locations. I suspect that once all of the current bugs get worked out that the next level to shoot for will involve improvements to troops, but that's just my opinion.

The audio system is so involved now that you could spend years, literally years, creating an immersive environment. The incorporation of the speed of sound limitations have also improved ground battles, because a gun report is now just a hint to the source rather than a definable physical location. The sounds also change, or can change, by location as well as time-of-day.

Yes there are a few problems, but the team is working hard to get those sorted out and fixed.

And then there is VR. Not a fan, myself, but I have a brother that thinks very highly of it.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

Quite simply the immersion is there now. Yes II had a fine flight model and ran smoothly but boy it was looking old. At times this new version looks stunning. Most of all the light, the way the sun hits objects and especially at sundown/sun up. Theres a new moon to look at, the ground looks fabulous from the air. It looks just like a central Pacific Island during the war and the greens look freaking great from the air.

I havnt seen clouds for a few maps but when we had them they were terrific. There are still a few issues like the water can look better but it is pretty cool to actually see waves breaking against the shores. The game is still evolving and no doubt future patches will make it look even better but to me III has given me some "Holy Smokes that looks good" moments.

To me thats important. "Immersion" is very important to me and the way a game looks gives me pleasure. Welcome back.
