Question Regarding 3d Model Updates--For HTC
« on: October 13, 2016, 01:44:28 AM »
I have noticed that some airplanes like the Ki-61 and some of the ships like the Fletcher have gotten new 3d models with much higher apparent polygon counts. These all look really great and I just want to know if it is the intent to update all the airplanes to a new "AH3" polygon standard. If it is, that would be awesome.

Prior to HTC starting work on AH3 there would be a major update every few months with new or updated models included and its likely that will be the case from now on. Previously the earliest AH1-era models were prioritised for updating. There's only about a dozen of those left now so after that we may start seeing early AH2 shapes getting the AH3 treatment.

The KI.61 looks great, and I think I recall seeing that the skin bmp was 2048x2048, supporting twice the detail.

I did notice last night though, that its damage map is the same as before - unlike the P-39, where if you lose an aileron or elevator to damage, the damaged item is replaced with a nicely realistic looking damaged part - in the Ki.61 the damaged part is simply removed from the aircraft.

I'm looking forward to the 2048x2048 skins (can't wait to see the A-20, 110, and Ju88 at this level of detail) but also hope the new damage model effects shown on the P-39 can be implemented.
