Base 88mm gunsights and placement
« on: October 24, 2016, 08:14:28 PM »
2 things on the 88's really need to be fixed.
1) There needs to be a ground gunsight / air gunsight option put in place of the default pipper.
2) You have bases where there are TREES right in the middle of the next to the 88 pit that prevent it being used in ground mode.   C'mon guys - map edits should require that NO easily removable obstructions be placed next to guns.

Just a little love on the 88s would make things much nicer.

A gunsight and higher rotation speed would turn the 88 into a 5inch on any base. At that point you would have players quitting the game. Did you know you can move the rounds\range HUD block under the white open ring sight to use as an elevation lead guide for 7k?

I built an offline gunnery training terrain that will allow you to learn how to do this. And learn how to range tanks out to 4 miles on a gunnery range with tank targets. You also can shoot at the drones to 7k. The terrain is named gunnery and you get it from the Player tab online as a custom terrain. Just run a create after you pick "gunnery" from the terrain list. Then follow the instructions from the post below in the Custom Arena forum. By practicing on my own terrain I hit bombers out to 9k on occasions along with almost any tank I can see on zoom. I think it would only be fair that since the 17lb has a sight for tanks, when we switch to AP with the 88, we get at least a cross hair with minimal range marks. The 88 direct fire sight had that.

A little off-topic, but does anyone know why the view from the 17lb gun is limited to straight ahead through the sight?

Hitech likes it or something along those lines...... :O

We used to abuse it with F3 mode and nail tanks like sitting ducks. When you look at how sights for the 17lb and 88mm are presented, I suspect it's so we will be more inclined to up a ride and play, versus break hearts with our Sgt York super skillz. I've noticed the new bases and trees make sitting in a manned gun more of a last ditch close quarters thing now.

Staying off the OP topic but on this one............. it would be neat if this sight was accessed through K2 and a general (non zoom able) look around capability (without any sight help) was accessed through K1.

Same could be instituted for all ground guns...........
