Bf 109F-4 fuel burn change?
« on: November 12, 2016, 03:23:56 PM »
The 109F-4 used to have around 40 minutes worth of internal fuel at MIL power. Now that has been reduced to 32 minutes. In AH3 the 109F-4's DB 601E is burning 183 GPH at 1.25 ATA/2400 rpm. The 109E-4's DB 601N, essentially the same engine, burns 159 GPH at the same settings. Now the 109F's engine burns almost as much as the larger DB 605 in the 109Gs.

Is this a bug or is it a deliberate change?

They don't have the same engine... The F4 puts out around 250 more HP than the E4.

The 109F1/F2 on the other hand, which we don't have, has the same engine as the 109E4.

They both have DB 601 engines. Same displacement, bore, stroke. The 601E is uprated to 0.07 ATA more max boost from 1.35 to 1.42, and 300 more max RPM from 2400 to 2700. That's how it makes more power. At the same boost and RPM they should perform identical or close to identical. And they used to in AH2.
