CyborgX vs Ch Flight control system.

What are the advantages? As well the disadvantages?

CH has no twist rudder so you would need pedals or another method for rudder! CyborgX inexpensive but maybe there are better alternatives.  Look at the TM1600,relatively inexpensive and uses hal sensor so no cheap pots and comes with a throttle and twist rudder.

If money is no object I'd recommend the warthog, not without it's issues but an excellent setup, needs rudder pedals also!

I love my CH stuff, but posts here indicate quality has gone downhill since CH was bought by a larger outfit, so I'd be looking at other alternatives now if my CH stuff went belly up/

If I were looking in the price range of the cyborg x, I'd be looking hard at the TM.16000 for the reasons Morfiend mentioned.  I honestly have no idea what my next stick will be.  I like the look of the Warthog but that's a lot of money.  I like the look of the Saitek X55 but I've heard horror stories about the quality.  They've just been bought out by Logitech so in a year or two once they've rolled through existing stock there seems to me a chance for them to improve, but at this point, I don't trust the X55.

20 years ago I bought a CH setup. It was analog (gameport plugs). When everything switched to USB I held on to them for as long as I could. When the analog system was fazed out my set was still going strong. I upgraded to the USB CH gear and used that for years. I had small issues with them as in wearing out a hat switch or two. I had saved the analog set and it was easy money to just swap out a switch or hat when needed.

About a year or so ago I started having more issues, dirty pots and such and decided to get a new set. Unfortunately CH has been bought out and the new owners are not as concerned with quality as the old company, so I started looking around for a new set.

Saitek had just come out with the X55, but it was on back order in most places. I did order one  (stick and throttle) and after a 6 week waiting period I finally got mine. I have used it for over a year now (i think) and have have no issues. It took me awhile to figure out which stick tension to use (comes with 3 springs for 4 different "feels" from very weak to very strong). So far Im please with the X55 set. We'll se how long it last. I know Im spoiled with the old CH stuff lasting forever, but we'll see.

when my saitek joy stick died I bought the Fly 5 (Cyborg) due to financial reasons...I went through 5 in one year...Could have replaced my hotas set for that...then I found the TM1600....this has to be the best cheaper stick out there at the moment <----my opinion

BTW,you can buy the warthog stick separate from the throttle,or just the throttle!  If you have pedals and or a throttle it makes a nice option but it is still expensive!

Additionally, CH will not repair (our of warranty), or sell repair parts anymore, so they are off my "best stick" list.

Around 20 years ago I was 2 years old  :D

I wonder if this would be useful to anyone with some old, working analog gear?

Thats how I hung on to mine as long as I did. They are a bit "glitchy", so I broke down and bought the USB set.
