Bf 109F-2 flown by Heinz Bretnütz in May 1941 while based in St. Omer-Arques, France. Bretnütz was a Spanish Civil War veteran, with 2 kills there. In WWII, he would see action against the English and French, scoring 17 victories by October 1940 when he was promoted to commander of II/Jg 53. He would add another 17 victories before Jg 53 was moved east for the invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941. Bretnütz would score one kill of a Soviet Sb-2 bomber on the opening day of the invasion, but he was severely wounded in the engagement and was forced to crash land behind Soviet lines. He was rescued from his aircraft by farmers who hid him from Soviet forces, until German troops reached them after four days. An operation to amputate his heft leg the following day resulted in Bretnütz dying from complications of the surgery.
This skin is a replacement for Serenity's skin of a plane from the same unit. The original skin had several accuracy issues and was not close in appearance to what is seen in reference photos. Therefore I elected to replace the original scheme with a scheme which is closer to the original skin.
