Display problem
« on: December 02, 2016, 07:43:42 AM »
Yesterday my coputer at work suddenly would not dislay/run the game. I am posting some DIAG and a screenie. I don't play the game on this archaic POS but I like to use it just to keep tabs on what's going on while I'm at work. NOTE: this is running Dx11. I get very similar results in Dx9.
From my DxDIAG:

I am a bit surprised it ran at all.  It is about half the performance of the baseline 9800GTX we require as a minimum.

Nooby, that's a pretty good computer, or more specifically - for CAD. I just bought a used one for my daughter for that purpose. Now your experience makes me wonder how she'd be able to play her Steam games...

It was running the game just fine enough for me to get a glimpse of terrains, see what was goin on in the MA, etc, at 6-15 fps. So serious game play was out of the question, I get that, but THIS??? I guess I was just running on borrowed time? BTW, I could play AH2 on this machine forever without any problems. I was just wondering what happened to cause the things I'm seeing (or not seeing) now.

Aces High III is substantially different from AH2 in the way it deals with graphics.

AH3 offloads the graphics work to the video card, where AH2 used very little of the processing power of the video card.

If you can get the main screen up, go into the "Video Settings", set the "Maximum Texture Size" to 512.

Next, at the main screen again, select "Graphic Detail" and disable everything you can, along with setting the environment map slider to "None".

It might work.

Skuzzy, I did as you suggested and in VIDEO SETTINGS, the field was blank. Don't know how that happened. I put in 1024, restarted the game and voila....it worked fine. Thanks for setting me in the right direction.
