Tree branch monsters
« on: December 05, 2016, 02:34:05 PM »
They are well camouflaged, but they are there. I have been taken captive way too many times. I drive my 40 ton tank next to his hiding spot and he reaches out and grabs me. Never to let go. Please find these monsters and do away with them before I get too discouraged.

In all the testing I've done with the new code for extracting your tank out of trees, it may take a bit of time but, I'm always ejected by the trees eventually. This weekend I finally hit the jackpot while testing a spawn point on a terrain I'm building. My panther spawned dead center of a clump of trees locked solid. By performing small back, right, left corrections, the clump eventually spit me out. The longest it's taken me was close to 5 minutes, most often 1-2. The untangling code works.....

Post a .psave so the tree can be found and fixed.
I'll try to look up where the file lands on your hard drive.

Use the ".psave filename" command to save your position in the terrain/world.  If you do not provide a file name, then file will be saved as "cmepos.txt" in the "settings" folder.  Thank you!

Yes, that works too bustr, but it'd be better to fix the problem for new users that don't know they can break loose.

settings folder

If you don't give it a name it will default to psave.txt. You can copy and paste the contents into a forum post.

Easy I forgot about the perfect storm of the convergence point of two, even three clutter tiles and a grove of trees right on it. Is that still a bug in the face of the tree extracting code? I created that one on my gunnery terrain and figured no one would ever drive where I did. Honestly, this weekend I spawned dead center of a fir clump with no room to move in a panther and the code eventually spit me out of the clump. I have a real vested interest now in observing that code to see how well it works.

Thanks Buster. I have been able to break loose from most but a few just seemed to take too long and I lose patience. And Easycore that might be a little too technical for this old booger. Don't forget a lot of us are in our 60's and older and lucky if our joystick still works.
