Yeah, pretty much this shot puts WoT to shame, especially when you consider AH3 is not so much an arcade shooter.

If you were in the Exchange of everyday screenshots anyone? thread, the first couple of pages
are from 2007.

Ah, that explains why I was having so much trouble finding a good screen shot. I'm still learning the ins and outs of this board.

You know, this thread has kinda diverted a little bit. I gave my honest opinion on why new players aren't staying. I have learned though that some of you passionately disagree. Lets agree to accept each other's opinions and move on cause I'd hate to make to many enemies before I even start flying!

I'll give you my opinion on that straight up. Aces High isn't just easy, but it has a complexity that can be enjoyed once it is understood.

Read the rules. It probably cracked or fully broke one. We all get one sometimes. Even when we mean no harm.

You posted old images, from Aces High II, as substantiation for your opinion about the age of the graphics in Aces High III.

In all honesty, you tainted your "honest opinion" and call to question your credibility.  Let me explain.

In your opening statement in this thread, you stated,

Quote
I'm about to activate my two week trial, although I'm not technically a new player. The reason that I may buy a month or two is for the same reason I may pull my N64 out of the closet to play some DonkeyKong, nostalgia. Aces High is an antique game that somehow is still managing to stay alive today. Based off of offline practice mode, the graphics are 10 years out of date, it plays and sounds very clunky, and the color pallet is visually assaulting. The one thing the game still has going for it is it's mmo arena style combat, which gives it good gameplay (permitting there are still people playing the game). It doesn't surprise me that very few new players are staying in the game. If I was a new player, I wouldn't buy the subscription either. There are just too many other better and cheaper options. Tragic really.

You said you played offline, then you use screenshots from nearly 10 years ago to substantiate your claim after you have played it offline.  I am having a very hard time understanding how anyone could play the game offline, then turn around and use screenshots, which are obviously much poorer than offline flight would have been.

Even with every graphic option turned off, Aces High III looks better than AH2 did with everything turned up.

While we have always allowed people to discuss other games on our board, what we do not allow is people to come in here and make arbitrary and derogatory statements about our product, and service, which have no basis in reality.

Due to how you have presented yourself in this thread, you have lost most of your credibility as it pertains to how Aces High III looks.

All that said, Aces High III is still very much a new product.  We have a lot of older models in the game, which will eventually, get updated.  Simply updating the skins is going to make a huge difference, even in the older models.  To lambast our product, using 9 or 10 year old screenshots from a game which no longer exists is wrong and quite disrespectful.

Did you read my later post? I apologize for the old screenshots, but they were honestly the best I could find with my limited knowlege of the board. And did you read the original post? I'm not slamming the game, I'm giving an honest opinion on why new players aren't staying. Now, I can forgive a few passionate players getting defensive, but an administrator taking disciplinary action before even messaging me first? I may have discovered another reason why new players aren't staying. I have discovered that this community (or at least a portion of it) is downright violent. As a community, and especially as an admin, don't you think that rather than tearing me apart because of my opinion, you should use diplomacy to try to change it? Right now, nobody here is giving me a good reason to put my money into this game.

With all due respect, you still don't get it. We don't have to give you a reason, the GAME does that.

I find the timing of your post, your name, and the recent "dislikes" very suspicious.

ugh. just close this up. Nobody seems to know what I"m talking about and it's WAY off topic.

Skuzzy, nothing like a radio button 4 choice pop-up currently exists after two-week trial is used up?

You are correct.  I am not giving you a reason to join.

I am correcting incorrect information posted on our board about our game.  You posted images not representative of Aces High III and I removed them.  It would only confuse any potential new player.

By the way, you could have taken your own screenshots of the game.  It does have that facility built-in.

I also gave you a "heads-up" about how you are going to be perceived, due to how you presented yourself in this thread.  I posted that so others would have insight as to what was going on as the images are no longer in this thread.

You want to do this privately, that is fine with me.  Simply PM me.

The reason why most players leave, who aren't just quitting because of subscription payment, is because of stale game play action, long sorties with little action, and training undertsanding of the BIG MA. That's the bottom line. The MA is very complex for new players.

It's not about graphics, or how old the game is. I actually really like the new graphics with a little tweaks here and there. I do hope they get a little sharper overall, but thats really not even the reason why people don't continue playing.

The best solution is to fix the DA furball lake area because it's a total design failure for its intended purpose.

Or you can create a small action FFA or team death match arena with 20 max players on a very small map. This is what will help the new and returning players find action and learn the game, so they feel like the MA is where they can put their new skills up the test. I feel like AvA would accomplish this, but the map fight area has to be much smaller, and it's not really what I'm talking about.

Or you can make the bases in the MA a closer distance so players can get to fights more quickly and defend bases more quickly from back fields.

H2H really helped me stay apart of this game because I could always find quick fights and action. Not everyone has 2 hours to play, newbs especially have a much lower tolerance and crave quick action. These types of arenas really helped me learn the game, find friends, and not take anything seriously. This was great. I'm not saying bring back the free part of it, but I think an arena that was catered to this type of game play would really help new players stick around longer.

AH has a very steep learning curve.   It is easy to become frustrated as a noob and quit.  Hell, I was on here and still angry enough (over my inability to win fights with any consistency) to quit everyday for two or three years.   But I hung in there.

New players likely seek instant gratification.   Well, this isn't some XBox or PS game.  It takes a lot of work to set it up and even more to learn the slightest bit to be competitive.   If new players leave I doubt it is because of graphics.    As the screenshots above show, the graphics in AH3 are quite good.

We have H2H now but no one starts a room and invites folks. Note it is for paying customers only.
