My old Saitek died.
« on: December 19, 2016, 08:18:08 AM »
Which is why you haven't seen me on!  My faithful yet sloppy X45 bit the dust, so I ordered a new setup.  In defense of the Saitek, I've had this since it was released...so it's lasted a LONG time.  I have ordered a Warthog; it's *supposed* to arrive today, but we'll see.  I may need some pointers in setting her up, but it may be self explanatory.  I hear mixed reviews about the TARGET software, so, I dunno. Hopefully I'll be back this evening sometime. I miss getting shot down all the time!

You can program the Warthog in Aces High. You don't need the Target software.

Be aware the metal stick in the metal base is attached to a plastic gimbal so be gentle with it.

Good to know on all counts.  Thanks!  I don't see me breaking the Warthog after getting an X45 to run for 15 years or so...but, stranger things have happened.

As long as you aren't used to a twisty stick you should be OK.   :D

The TARGET software is very powerful and easy to use.  What I suggest you do is go ahead and set up in AH and get the buttons where you want.  Then when time permits start messing with TARGET.  Just work on the buttons to start with.

TARGET lets you do things that you now have to do in the text buffer like setting salvo and climb speed.

I did my setup via AH for now.  I'm still getting a feel for the target program.
