Looking for Ideal's for AvA Thursday Tank Nights
« on: January 06, 2017, 09:34:01 PM »
Hello All

For the past few weeks we have been running AvA Tank Wars Every Thursday night from 8pm til ???, So far we have had a few dedicated players showing up each week and the past 2 weeks we have tweaked it to where there is a 30 second delay to where the enemy last was and you can see the icons on the maps. Usually we use small maps so the action is close and Fast.

Last night we tried something new kinda like a Little Cat and Mouse type of night where you drove around looking for each other and hunt each other.

I am looking for ideal's to come up with some new nights maybe adding Defending a base and the other Team has to capture it and defend it.

Once again so We can some new comers in THIS IS A GV only Event no Storches  or Aircraft enabled this an all Ground battle.

Thanks

I think a Rat Patrol night would be fun...jeeps and maybe m-3s, but primarily jeeps....

Wingman: "Roger, It's 1:30 now, what do I do 'til then?"

Nice, I might survive a bit longer in that one.   :D
Easy in-game again.

I kept trying to come up with an all out brawl. Take both icons off, killshooter and get a map with a spawn . Doesn't matter what side , just an all out fight!!

Make a pit 500ft deep, 2000-5000yds across. Populate the bottom of the pit with buildings. Place spawns all around the gallery that is 500ft above the pit. Place 1 or 2 bases per country on the gallery evenly spaced with balanced spawns either at the boarders between the bases or mix in between the two enemy bases and at the boarders. Just give both sides a mirror spawn point pattern. Make sure there is a ramp up out of the pit for each country so players can try to get home or try to drive down. Place at least one spawn from each country in the pit.

If you go for a wide pit, place a tiny GV base in the center with tree cover from gallery snipers. Possibly on a 150-200ft mound as a capture for win objective in a race to capture mode duel. After all with the tiney GV base, you only need to kill 2 auto guns and run in troops.
------------------------------------------------------------

You can do the same thing as a GV football field with the objective to race to the center and capture the tiny GV base.

------------------------------------------------------------
Make a 6-12 mile diameter 500ft high mesa. Use a 1\8-1\4 mile brush and cut a waffle grid into the mesa 500ft deep. Use a clutter tile with a few trees on it to give some hiding places instead of making it a shooting gallery in the alleys. Modify some of the intersections into low mounds or remove some parts all together to make opened intersections. Add buildings for cover and small GV bases as capture targets. Teams start at opposite sides of the grid and the team who captures the most bases in some amount of time wins. All while not getting whacked by M18 rapid interference forces from the other team. Allow capturing the home GV bases which will be outside the waffle grid as a winning move if it's pulled off before the time limit.

A variation on this is to cut down a few parts so they become inclines up to a flat say 200ft elevation for snipers. Paint the slope and flat with grass and no cover for fairness. I know kind of Escheresque. I was thinking about things like this as I cut 2000miles of 5000ft tall fjords inclined to sea level.
------------------------------------------------------------

Make a mound 2000ft high and 8 miles in diameter so two small GV bases have no direct line of sight set on opposite sides of the mound at the same elevation. Choose an elevation that won't make the players spend all night trying to get at each other. Place a small GV base at the center on top. Use a not too heavy tree covered clutter tile like the open Savannah tree tile from the Med tile set. Race to the top and capture that GV base or kill off the other side before they kill off your side instead to deny them the GV base. You can imagine the M18 or M3 with 75mm and M3 with troops who will race low and around to come up rapidly to your base from down hill while your team try's to assault the small GV base on top for a quick capture. And what if it's a team sent low around each side of the mound?

German armor Vs Soviet armor

40 tanks a side, and Stukas and IL2s available to 10 people each side

Don't they hold that as a regular war week on rotation during the year?
