Mission Theater attn: 133rd squadron
« on: January 14, 2017, 11:18:28 PM »
We had significant losses of bombers last week. Bomb damage assessments show minimal damage to the target at Roen.

The US 97th bomber squadron is conducting another strike on the same target this Tuesday, and once again, we are escorting.

Tuesday 1-17 9pm est AvA arena.

Actually it is the 97th Bomb Group that flew the 1st 8th Bomber Command mission on August 17,1942 to the Marshalling Yards at Sottville les Rouen. Led by Col. Frank A Arstrong in the B-17E named Butcher Shop, Co-Piloted by Major Paul W. Tibbets Jr. Also Brig. Gen. Ira Eaker flew along on this mission in B-17E 41-9023 Yankee Doodle.

OK, those things can be changed. Other things we take creative license with. IE: we don't have a marshalling yard object or the time to build one so we use a substitute target. Also for a small population we aren't putting 50 escorts at 30,000 feet for top cover and play hell trying to get all the flights to meet at that alt in a reasonable time.
It's a compromise.

I may in fact pm you for info about the 97th from time to time.
Thanks  :salute
