Lightning strike took out a transformer and the backup generator failed as well.  Just a perfect storm.

You can tell us the truth.  Dale got mad about all the whining and pulled the plug in a Wild Turkey-induced rage

Translation: skuzzy was drinking and tripped over a cord again. Spilled his drink on the lone power strip for the servers shorting it out. He was too drunk to drive to Walmart for a replacement.

I knew it!!  But had me worried for a bit, thought it might have been that pesky power company again, they have absolutely no sense of humor over a power bill that is barely over 3 months late.

how did the backup generator fail aswell?

The answer has already been given: Skuzzy spilled his drink into it.

The official explanation might be something like aging hardware failing because of an electric spike during the transition from mains to backup.

And perhaps a quick text on the home page like when release notes information is given for the two people that don't have fb.   :devil

May I make the suggestion that you use the official FB page to disseminate information when you have total loss of web/forums/game in the future?

I am thinking class action suit here.  I figure 25 cents for lost play per player signed-in, and $10,000 for pain and suffering.

If the servers are down because there is no power you can't upload anything to change the webpage that is on the server.

Yeah first thing I checked was the radar down there and remembered the boomers I had to endure in my TX. time and knew it was weather related.

I curled up into a ball and rocked myself to sleep murmuring "our base is under attack" and "protect our sheep at all cost" over and over. I then dreampt that hitech was sold to the russians.

Now that the game and site are back I'm feeling a bit better, but I might need to see a shrink. Should I send the bill to accounts payable?

DFW radar site was first thing I checked...since we were on northern part of storm I kinda figured it was weather related...

But I do need to find out where to send my medical bill from my trip to the ER...my evening with the wife wasn't as pleasant as some...

Word of advise to those who might not know...don't just expect your wife to sit quietly when you change the channel while she's in the bathroom... :bolt:
