Tracers
« on: February 08, 2017, 12:38:57 PM »
So I finally activated my two week trial guys and flew with some pretty cool people the past couple of days. I had noticed that tracers, particularly from bombers where they are in large amounts, are fired in perfect salvos from every gun.

Several factors including the first tracer fired  in an amo belt not always being the fifth bullet, and slight mechanical differences effecting fire rate (like how well maintained the gun was) ensured that tracer rounds were rarely fired simultaneously.

I would like to hear other opinions on this, but I think the game would feel a lot more immersive if the tracer rounds were staggered slightly from gun to gun. I'm no game developer, but this seems like an easy change that would have a big impact. Thoughts?

Welcome to the game Fletcher, I'm glad you are here.  Sounds like you're having fun.

How did you find the game please sir?

Have you flown in an FSO yet?  If not, I invite you to try.  You will need to post that you are available for these Friday Squad Qperations and be picked up by a registered squad to participate.  There are plenty of squads that will take you, and train you.  It is the best part of the game according to many.

OMG! Fletcher.  you've chosen to fly the P39Q!.  Good for you sir, and you're getting some decent kills in it and even landing a few.   :rock

I think it's a valid point Fletch
It would be interesting to see how it looked.
Welcome to the game.

Fletch Lives.  :D

Staggered tracers would be fine. I do not use tracers myself.

In reply to Zoney, I had known about the game previously. I had played it several years ago, if only for a month or two, but enough to know of the game's existence. Ultimately, what got me back into the game was a YouTube video in my recommendations section. Seeing that the game still existed, I thought I'd hop back in and give it a try. My thinking was that with all the flight sim experience I have now, maybe I could do something in Aces High now other than get lost and shot down!

The P-39Q seems to fit me well. I have always had a fascination for unusual aircraft, and the P-39 fits the bill perfectly. Its slow speed, heavy weight, and difficult to use 37mm cannon also fits my flying philosophy. Fly a challenging aircraft to become a better pilot.

Also, I have not flown in an "FSO" yet.

Well Fletcher to experience the full potential to the game I recommend trying out FSO. Just post in the FSO Forum that you're wanting to try it out for a frame. Other squads will welcome you in and let you see what all the fuss is about.

Next I recommend trying Scenarios, we have one coming up very soon, in about two weeks. Both FSO & Scenarios recreate historical battles to the best of their abilities.

There is a scenario starting February 25th.

I invite you to come try it out.

It's based on air combat during the Battle of the Bulge.

P-51's, P-47's, Spitfires, Typhoons, B-26's, a couple of Tempests vs.  Bf 109G-14's, Bf 109K-4's, FW 190D-9's, FW 190A-8's, FW 190F-8's, and a couple of Ta 152's.

Dates and times are here:
