The elephant in the room
« on: February 19, 2017, 04:20:30 AM »
Well, since I am muted in game for venting I may as well open it up to the floor.

We are a community of people wanting combat.  Yet so many of us refuse to engage in combat.  Why is that?  IMO it is killing the game and only we are in charge of it.

Now BBS protocol prevents me from naming names however, when you have 'top' names in the game that simply pick and run it is not good.  When you have community leaders who plan scenarios based on combat but they will not engage in combat you have to think there is an issue.

Come on guys, man up and actually fight.  Your stats mean nothing to anyone, just fight!!

And, if any of you recognise yourself in this post and want to go 1 on 1 to teach me a lesson I am happy to oblige.  I am guessing AKAK will be the only one to take that up but beware, you may well get a surprise.

I may well have done that.  After 5 kills I would assume my ammo and fuel state would be marginal, especially if I was in a P51, which is likely.  Happy for you to post the film up, especially if it shows my ammo and fuel state, even better if it shows the 5 kills :D

What that proves, is that I fought and got some kills.  What I know and you know, we all know, is I am not talking about people getting out after a good fight.  I am talking about those that appear, dive, shoot, run....run...run...run..5 friends turn up...they turn back.  You know the ones.

Is that what the fighter combat part of the game is about?

What is funny is that you got upset at Brooke and then demanded that I go to the DA and duel you because Brooke somehow bruised your ego.  After Brooke didn't bite, you started your crap talk on channel 200 with me, when I didn't bite you then looked up my score and tried school yard taunts to get me upset so I would go to the DA.

Brooke has done more to get people involved in this game than you have and there was no need to bash on his work in creating and organizing scenarios nor your attacks on the FSO events.

I'll close with this word of advice, don't try and play the martyr when you were the one acting like a twit.

While I don't condone "how" Fess acted (I didn't see it, only going on what was said here) I have to agree that there seems to be a very heavy lack of combat for a combat game.

It seems to be all or nothing. At one point 8-10 rooks are coming to a large Bish field and there are a few GVs, and a few planes. As we are coming in, in the conga line formation, this makes for a fairly even running battle. Every single pass was a HO, but it looked like we might have a fight. I guess this was too even because all of a sudden there are 5 to 1 odds and the Bish are coming in at 15-20K and doing the pick and run. So much for what looked like maybe getting a fight. A few logged the rest moved to the Knight front.  :frown:

So for the most part we get players ALWAYS pulling for the HO, or picking and running to a bunch of friends. In 4 hours of flying I can count on one hand how many "fights" I had. Why is it everyone seems to want the "kill", but nobody wants to fight for it?

This had nothing to do with lack of fights.

Lets define what I think the OP means by "fights".

Combat is defined as, ":  a fight or contest between individuals or groups"

Fight is defined as, "a :  to contend in battle or physical combat; especially :  to strive to overcome a person by blows or weapons"

A HO isnt a contest, contend in battle, or striving to over come, it is a joust, and roll of the dice. The same goes for a pick and run. Your not engaging in battle, your looking for a freebi kill.

So while there may have been hundreds of HOs and picks going on there was very little combat/fights going on.
