Cancer
« on: February 24, 2017, 03:06:57 PM »
Forgive me a short soapbox rant.

We just lost ET to cancer.  I imagine all of you know someone who has suffered from this disease.  I just found out I'm starting my 3rd encounter with a malignancy -- it seems my throat cancer has metastasized to the lung.  Very early but it looks treatable.

Now for the rant.

Trust me when I say you do not want throat cancer.  The treatment kicks your tail, let alone what the disease does.  If your are still smoking, chewing, drinking to excess or engaging in other activity that increases your chance of cancer you are being stupid and you are gambling with your life and your financial future.  My radiation treatments alone cost $250,000...I'm lucky in that I have great health insurance without which I would be sunk.

Stop smoking, stop chewing, get a routine checkup, get the colonoscopy, pay attention to the little bumps and lumps.

You don't want to follow down the path of a cancer victim.

I'm sorry to hear of your illness. I lost my mother and her father to cancer. Having watched them die I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy.

I must disagree with you on one thing though: You're not lucky you have great health insurance. Unless someone else has provided you with the insurance it is not the result of luck, but the result of you having acted like a responsible adult. I'm sure you have forsaken a great many luxuries to secure your medical and economical future.

Columbo, sorry to hear that, :salute  sending positive vibrations and prayers  :pray!
Same here i lost my mother  to cancer; I did quit smoking after one of my best friends was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2014.  I've been into yoga for years, more the spiritual practices than diet, but i strongly believe vegan diet can cure any diseases;
I watched this videos last week on the other forum; Turmeric , ginger and cannabis oil seems to help. I added first 2 into my diet few years ago.

Yeah they really gotta figure this out. Too many people get zapped by this out of nowhere. About to lose a good friend and mentor that never saw it coming.

Cancer sucks, but it can be beat. Sure makes the world a small place. Hang in there and stay positive. Knee mail on the way.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN

Hey Colmbo, sorry to hear you're still dealing with that.

I'm 14 months removed from 9 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy on my larynx and can attest that the treatment sucks.

I now see the ENT Dr and the medical oncologist each every three months.  So far so good.  Four years to go before they give me a clean bill of health.

The funny thing is given the effects of radiation on your throat I thought it would force me to quit smoking.  Nope.  Smoked through the entire treatment and still do.  45 year old habits die hard.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.
