Bullet trajectory
« on: March 01, 2017, 07:33:38 PM »
Is the game set up for the different trajectories of the different guns and cannon. If all the guns and cannon were set to 500 yds, will the mid range trajectory be different.  A fellow pilot said all were the same, no difference at all., one would shoot as flat as any of them.

If all of your guns are set to IP at 500, the only difference will be time to target. If your barrel is set level with the ground with all guns, your IP at 500 will be different. Sit in say a 109F offline with all of your guns set to 150. Pull up the offline target and set it to 400 with an azimuth to lift it up. Lets say you spawn north east.

.target 500 45 12

500 yards, heading of 45 and pitch up of 12 degrees.

First fire the 7mm MG, then the 20mm motor canon and see the difference in IP points.

Bustr, his question is asking if the slower bullet would have a higher arc before the convergent point. The answer is yes it would.

Air density is also modeled so bullets travel farther when you go higher.

Sorry Hitech, my bad.

shilo,

You can see the trajectory difference in the same setup. Just start and 100 yds and change the range by 100yds until you get to 500. Orrrrrrrrrrr......

Pick a plane and give a me a day, and I'll give you back screen shots from an in-game bench stand of the IP points for different guns at 100-500yds. The bench stand levels the plane while it is parked like doing real bore sighting for harmonization. Most people don't want to be bothered with the multiple gyrations it takes to taxi their plane onto it.
