Bailing bombers
« on: March 15, 2017, 06:31:27 AM »
Again!

And no, I'm not really concerned about it, since I am talking time away from the game anyway. However, I asked a few of the guys that have left the game what it was that upset them so much as to leave and this was the issue (no penalty for bailing which they see as a waste of their time with no reward).

I would like to suggest that when someone bails from their bomber that the bomber slow to stall speed, gear and flaps come out, and the formation basically descends in "surrender" mode; easy meat in other words. The original pilot can log off, relaunch or what have you, but if they get shot down then it still counts against their score (although their name will not be announced to their attacker).

This is a fair and equitable outcome, because there are still bomber pilots that can reach their target and make it home.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

There is a penalty in regards to score/rank if you are one to care about that. I don't think you get the full amount of perk points as compared to the same run with a successful landing either.

As to your wish, what about disabling the bail out (enter-enter-enter) feature if the aircraft is completely undamaged? Don't know how this would be coded, I'd imagine it would be similar to the "you can't end sortie while in flight". Still, the simple counter to this if you'd really want to end the flight for one reason or another would be to put that puppy in a nose dive to rip the wings off (thus causing damage) in order to enable the bail out process.

The only reason I have ever bailed is that I would like to quickly move on to join a mission in progress and wing Up with a group. I enjoy both flying and intercepting bombers - I certainly understand the feeling of being thwarted at the last moment after taking the time to setup and hunt buffs. That's why when I'm in buffs, I never look to deny an attacker an opportunity to engage me.
