So I modded the portion that holds the joystick because it was built to hold a wheel. And I'll be flying it tonight in FSO so we'll see how it goes.
I hack sawed the original into the parts I'd need and then re-welded them back together.  I think it came out nice and is in a much better more comfortable position.

it's adjustable up and down and closer and further from the seat.
