I worked at UPS's main hub as a youngster.  I once counted the lights of nine 747s and MD-11s stacked up ready to land.  I imagine the only reason they were not closer is wake turbulence (reference the C-141 incident in the First Gulf War tearing off engines for wake turbulence info).

On landing wake turbulence and wingtip vortices are less of a concern since the trailing aircraft are above the leading aircraft. But there are limits to how fast a landed bird can get off the runway to make room for the next one in a safe manner.

I'm very skeptic for a number of reasons, most of them summed up here: http://www.businessinsider.com/why-the-circular-runway-concept-wouldnt-work-2017-3?r=US&IR=T&IR=T

Cool YouTube video bro.  The planes still had plenty of time to get off the runway before the next one landed.  Wake turbulence is a real phenomenon.
