Aircraft in the movie "Allied".
« on: April 01, 2017, 03:47:45 PM »
Did anyone see the movie Allied?  I am trying to identify the two aircraft depicted in the movie.

The first is some type of British recon/scout single engine.  The second is a German Bomber (BOB time), and it appears to have a single vertical stabilizer.

Thanks!

Lysander and what appears to be a He 177.

Sure does, but it is all for the benefit of the pilot's view. More important than aerodynamics in an army cooperation/observation plane. By mounting the wing at eye-level the pilot has unobstructed view both over and under the wing.

And the He 177 is not a BoB bird so unless it was the Baby Blitz in 1944 it's an anachronism.

My bad, it definitely was the baby Blitz.  The movie starts in 1942 and ends in the weeks or months before D Day invasion.

I enjoyed the heck out of the movie.  It's a movie and you can definitely find some places to be critical, but I was hooked for two hours.  Check it out, it's better then a lot of the crap out there.
