TM16000M
« on: April 13, 2017, 03:10:25 PM »
Just setting this up now as part of my CH Hotas. I intend to keep the CH throttle. Haven't decided whether to stay with peds or switch to twisty rudder.

Anyway, I had my Fighterstick pinky button set to modify my views with UP. Those of you with the TM, what are you using for this? Any other input suggestions?

Numeric keypad, for me.  Way better than hat switch, and ingrained sine Air Warrior in 1989.  Requires a keyboard allowing at least simultaneous key presses at a time.

I use to use my center button on the T handle of the throttle control as my modifier. When I switched over to the X55 I still used one of the two buttons there even though I had the pinky switch in both sets setup for the modifier.

I just got a TM16000M yesterday and so I have to redo my layouts as well.

I have the stick but not as part of a HOTAS setup so I cant give you any specifics on which button to use, but I will recommend that you do something to add some grip to the hat switch itself. It is completely smooth and it will slip out from under your thumb when looking rearward. I use a small square of masking tape that covers most of the hat switch after crimping it down.

This may not be an issue with the newest model - the 16000M FCS. The hat switch looks different on those.

I use a button on my throttle for UP.

On the stick I use
  • Trigger for All Guns
  • Left button for Zoom toggle
  • Center button for Look Front Up
  • Right button for Clipboard
  • Slider for RPM

I have assigned some functions to the base buttons, too, but there's no way I could remember those!

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

Fugitive; where'd you get the TM T-16000M from, and was it new or used?  I was thinking of trying one as a left-hand joystick for another game, and they are hard to find.  The one on Amazon is from a seller with a 1-star rating (...):  https://www.amazon.com/Hercules-2960706-Thrustmaster-T-16000M-Flight/dp/B001S0RTU0

I use the pinky for the same thing. "Up" Just seems intuitive to use in combination with the hat
