Is it time to "represent"?
« on: April 15, 2017, 04:58:26 PM »
I'm often on the https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus subreddit (i.e., a forum, 81,000 registered subscribers) because I follow VR developments very closely.  When I get the chance, I try to pipe up for this game on there, but I seem to be one of less than a handful to have done so.  Meanwhile, other WWII flight and combat games and sims are garnering ever more attention and have very visible, vocal representation or testimonials from their fans (e.g., IL-2 BoS, which just went to VR with acclaim; WT, DCS, and a handful of others).  It's not uncommon to even see game developers representing themselves there.

For the sake of discussion: Is it time--or conversely, is it even right--for this community to represent AH there and on https://www.reddit.com/r/vive (for Vive users, approx 72,000 registered subscribers) with a stronger, more visible presence?

AH is a great game and its VR implementation and other features strongly rivals what other games in its genre have done.  Yet, I notice that despite AH's improvements and upgrades, people's preconceptions, misconceptions and ignorance of the game's existence may relegate it to a little known game option.  VR users will become an ever more visible part of the gaming community as time goes on, but they seem to be gravitating to other options or are just plainly confused or uninformed about AH.  Case in point:

So, am I making much ado about nothing or is it time for AH'rs to "represent" more visibly?

By the way, there are free online arenas now, which do not require a subscription.

When someone says this about Aces High, "It is a very old game...." it can be said that is true, in name only as the current release was written from the ground up and has little to do with any previous version, from a code perspective.

As far as a work in progress goes, well, yes, it is.  It always will be.  That is one of our strengths.  How many other 17 year old games have gotten over 200 updates during its life?  The released version of Aces High is already on its 30th update, since it was released 7 months ago.

Appreciate the support over there.
