Flat Drop
« on: April 20, 2017, 12:25:55 AM »
I sometimes get in a situation where my plane is wings level and falling straight down. I have attached a video of a recent example.  In this example, I had a damaged engine, and lost part of my elevator.  But I have had this happen with no damage.  The drop starts at 7:44.  I know I made several mistakes prior to getting hit (I always do).  What I want to know is if there is a way to get out of this and recover control.  It seems that all the controls are blanked.  I can get the plane to bank a little.  I set up a rotation by cranking one of the engines.  But I just can't get out of this.

  Any suggestions?

Engine off, hold down letter "I", hold down rudder trim opposite the spin, try gear down, start one engine opposite the spin.

With part of the elevator/stab gone, you may not have enough authority to get the nose down to get enough airspeed.

I've had the 110G, spit 14, and ta152  stall tail down and never recover even with having 30,000 feet to try every single thing and it's quite possible that some planes could get in that position in real life.
