For Germany it was. One of first of many errors their high command made - stopping the ground assault and not chasing the Brits into the sea - IMO and many historians.

Dunkirk became a battle cry and we all know who won <S>

Outside of biplanes it is extremely difficult to film a realistic dogfight.   The speeds are too high and the camera angles too narrow.
