War of Rights
« on: May 13, 2017, 08:51:11 AM »
Hey guys there's a new game in development that I stumbled upon called War of Rights. From what I gather it's first person point of view shooter set in the Civil War in 1862. It's in technical alpha at the moment, but it looks pretty good. It's about as historically accurate, and the damage is about as good as anything I've seen in a long time. It's not a lone wolf game either. You enlist either USA or CSA, give yourself a historical name, enlist in a regiment, get assigned to a company and a role. You get to drill with your regiment, march into battle in ranks while cannon fire rips through your ranks. The battle damage is sobering to say the least. The bodies stay around, trees get brought down by the cannon fire, the smoke from the muskets linger, your uniform gets tattered, your bayonet can get blood stained, etc.

I certainly recommend that if you have any interest in a tactical Civil War game, with a dang good historical drive behind it, that you keep your eye on this one.

I just enlisted in the 38th North Carolina, to defend my home state from those heathern Yankees. See y'all on the field :salute

Edit: please note that I am not trying to take people away from Aces High, I am only suggesting a game for those interested in the era, that is all.

It's really neat! You can pledge to back the game for different tiers and each tier has a different reward. The also have flag bearers who carry the colors into battle, and I believe they are adding musicians to help organize the field of battle.

Since the campaign takes place around Virginia and Maryland 1862, you can only join regiments that were active in that area and fought in those battles. You can also choose what type of regiment to join such as infantry, cavalry, artillery, and sharpshooter. The one neat thing about the artillery regiments is they can change what type of ammo they're using just like the real guys can. There is a structured command, with the leader of the regiment, typically a Colonel/Lt. Colonel. His command staff, company commanders, NCO's, and then enlisted men.

Did I forget to mention character customization!  :x

You can change what you look like, so the entire regiment looks like the real deal. A mix of young and old, different faces, beards, hair, etc. Each regiment also has their own flair added to their uniforms so you can tell them apart, just like the real thing.

There are also going to add three-four other campaigns in the future once the game gets moving along out of Alpha and Beta.

How can the game work.  No one will want to sign up on the yankee side.  ". . .  Look away. . .  Look away . . . Look away  . . . Dixie Land."

I've looked at that game and I don't know how it can possibly done. If each person in the rank and file has independent control, there is no way a successful multiplayer version can exist.

When is the last time you've played an online game and everyone does exactly as they supposed to? Imho it will turn into a Civil War CoD at best.

So far in my experience in the past short days I have participled in two mock skirmishes composed of about 20 men. Everyone on both sides followed the orders down to the detail, when to march, load, fire, fix bayonets, etc. It was a blast!

At the moment there are more Union than Confederacy, and Del I agree to disagree. The players and people I see joining the game and forum, young and old, are looking for the historical aspect of the game and the roleplaying part. I believe that the COD fans will easily be turned away. It takes 23 seconds to reload, hitting a target from 150 yards plus is certainly not easy with the sway of the rifle. The damage model is set to 100% real life wounds. I'm very pleased with what I've seen so far and the community is so friendly too!

Enlist today in the Bucktails!

Use the Sharp's rifle.  Use skirmisher tactics.  Change the way war is fought.  Take a huge toll on Johnny Reb's ranks.
