Sudden black screen
« on: May 31, 2017, 07:22:28 PM »
Today just as I upped a Tiger my  screen went black, there was a hum and monitor message "no signal". The card is a Radeon R9 390 directx 12 GV-R939G1 Gaming 8 GD 8GB 512- bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready ATX video. Should I stick with the R9 390 or go for one of the RX 480 cards?

I let it sit for an hour then tried to boot again, it worked for about 20 seconds after getting to the desktop. What would be a good replacement card?

Nvidia GTX 1060 is about in the same price and power range, with less noise and power consumption. 1070 or 1080 if you want to upgrade to a better one.

Thank  you Bizman. I looked on newegg, the reviews for the evga manufactured cards is so so, the  nvidia seems the way to go for sure.

I am not sure but I think I had exactly the same thing happen and it might have been the same day.  The PC was just started and I just had entered the game.  I three fingered it and restarted.  It never happened again.  It was just after the last update.

In my case Randy the lights on the card are black, I can see them thru the side of the case. Can't boot to desktop.
