Vox issues DX9 version
« on: July 02, 2017, 09:33:28 PM »
Was having intermittent vox issues with card I was using so I switched back to my onboard sound.

I can calibrate and use mic just fine in windows. But in game Nothing happens

If you switch audio around then you need to manually do the same in the Options->Preferences->Game Sounds.

By the way, dropped audio in VOX is usually issues with dropped packets over the Internet.  VOX is all UDP protocol.  If you are on a wireless connection, dropped packets will occur more frequently.

Check your in game microphone settings: Options>Preferences>Game Sounds. You should have your onboard sound device there. Notice that Realtek which is the most common one has both a HighDefinition and Digital in- and outputs. The former is what you should choose.

In Options>Preferences>Voice set the Microphone slider at full to enable the boost slider.

This was it. It had realtek selected. But it had set it on digital for some reason.

Thank you

I have most of my house set up for ethernet. the only things that do wireless are tablets and phones and two TVs.

On another note.
Every time I log in I get the message

"Not receiving updates. switched to TCP"
Im using Fios with a brand new router (but this was happening even before)

Any suggestions/reasons why?

That message indicates packet loss on the network connection between you and the game server(s).  Where it may be occurring might be determined using Ping Plotter (www.pingplotter.com).
