Match Play - Warm Up Area

Often I'm sitting alone in this arena waiting for an opponent to show up. If it gets too boring I go offline to practice / experiment. However then the arena is empty again. To overcome the stiction of an empty arena could we please have a 'Warming Up' option in the Queue section, so you can fly a bit by yourself while waiting for opponents or even just to warm up.

Is it your raison d'ętre, Lunatic, to constantly poo poo other people's requests on the grounds that YOU don't need it?

The whole point of this idea is to enable practice and NOT have an EMPTY ARENA. As people log in and see there is at least one person in Match Play then maybe they'd be more tempted to come in and have a look / play. Certainly more so than if the arena is showing 0 players.

Might not be a problem for you if you play at US peak time, or don't play in the Match Play arena at all, that's entirely irrelevant. Other players might have different needs / wishes to you. Please try to consider this before future poo pooing.

ok ok sorry, but if people log in and see the arena is empty because your in a warm up arena what then? but I guess the same thing could be said for all the other stuff as well, I just thought good pilots didn't need to warm up. so I will do a reverse(the only kind I know) and give u a

Im thinking they could do it the same as in the missions. When the "duel" is ready, you get a pop-up box giving you 15 seconds to bail your practice ride and be in the tower for the duel to start.

Hitting the "warm-up" button could launch you with zero ammo, or turn lethality down to zero like in the training arena so as to not negate the whole "dueling" setup of the arena.

No worries man but you slightly misunderstand, look:

How it works presently is if you're alone then you cannot air spawn, you must just sit in the tower until one other person shows up. It can get very boring and frustrating. Especially for us off-hours players.

I’m proposing in addition to ‘not ready’, ‘1 v 1’, ‘2 v 2’, there’s also a ‘warm up’ option available on the radio button list. Then you could be air spawned to a random location just like normal match play but you fly by yourself. Whenever there are other opponents or you are ready you can bail, go back to the radio button list and make your choice.

So I’m basically only proposing the small alteration that you can fly without an opponent. The subordinate advantages being externally the arena will have 0 players for less of the time and those match play players can get some practice in while they wait.

Also the alterations to the code are relatively small, just an edited radio button list and some arena setting changes. It’s win-win!

if clicked "ready" then flight becomes available.

click one vs. one then flight is available.

player is then in queue and auto spawns when match is ready.

15 minute time limit on queue.
