Sorry for the late reply i'm doing 12 hr shifts out in an isolated site. There is no alt cap on fighters. 
We've been doing that battle for 20 years. During that time we have learned what works and that's the way it's played.
It is my guess that if those who were really there had fought for as many years as we have, their tactics would have more closely mimick ours.
