AHIII Film Viewer Operation
« on: July 18, 2017, 11:09:53 PM »
Having a bit of trouble with the AHIII film viewer. Can't seem to get the 'fixed' view mode to work. In AHII it sort of kept one of the aircraft in focus but with the AHIII version the view just fixates on an empty bit of sky. Operator error?

Yep I have seen same issue! External is fairly close substitute, but not the same as before. If I am not mistaken, in editing through film viewer, the "At Shot" setting works as external use too?

Still befudled with operating the new film viewer. One of Blade san's YouTube films mentions something about a new 'keep both planes in view' option. Buggered if I can find it

The new settings are in the shot tool.

Oh I see. Thanks. Is that only for exporting avi movies then? Is there a tutorial or manual?

You don't have to export to AVI, you'll likely get smoother video but you'll lose audio so record that separately. If you save to AVI select the multi-file option.

When you play AH film with the shot tool you can also record with screen capture video like Fraps or Shadowplay.

No manual, just pick a film and play with the shot tool to see how it works. Set film duration in seconds.

If your viewpoint is outside the cockpit use World Relative along with the At Shot checkbox.

If things get screwy after using the shot tool try restarting the film viewer. It seems like the shot tool doesn't reset after I close it.

From the new release notes:-

4. Added an "At Shot" check box in the shots dialog of the film viewer. The camera can now stay pointing at a plane in all 3 other modes. World Pointing has been removed because it is equivalent to world relative with the "At Shot" checked.

Did you get that to work in all 3 modes or are you just quoting the release notes?
