Because Aces High doesn't worry about copy protection schemes (like the infamous Star Force), Steam doesn't really offer any advantages over direct download other than advertising to a very large user base. But, when a game gives up draconian DRM restrictions in favor of Steam licensing, I love it. Buy one license, install on as many PCs as you like. Play on any one PC, and if you aren't playing it, you can share it with another person's steam account that is using the same PC. But DCS World manages to screw up the advantages of Steam and make people wish they had purchased directly from Eagle Dynamics. It uses the Steam licensing and the license activation scheme of the regular download at the same time, defeating the whole purpose of using steam since it counts activations. Worse yet, Steam users are last to get patches and new modules.
Hopefully, Steam will do for AH what it needs: expose a large user base and result in higher arena numbers that equal or exceed numbers from years in the past.
