Happy huntind season
« on: September 01, 2017, 02:30:45 PM »
Opening day of dove season today in Texas. For me this is just a start for a long hunt season that will end with turkey season in April. Tonight I make my yearly migration to CO for a week elk hunt then back to Texas for a south Texas dove hunt.

This year we are making some special trips.  Two pheasant trips along with a charity nilgai hunt on the king ranch thanks to my wife's connections.

Happy hunting man.  As far as the doves go, I've never hunted them.  Do you breast them and serve them to guests on toothpicks? :rofl  I'm in North Dakota.  Soooo many pheasants.  No deer to speak of though

Hole breast with bacon wrapped cheese/pepper grilled.  My favorite is fried.

I have a German short hair pointer and this will be her first fully trained year. Last year she was queen of the field so I am stoked to see her work with a year worth of experience. She has never been pheasant hunting but I am sure she will be great.

We have a large population of bobwhites at the ranch in llano and I can't wait to year them up.

Two new shot guns for the year.

Skb OU 28ga
Browning OU 410ga

New optics on both of my deer rifles and upgraded my binos.

Work is the only issue with all the harvey damage. I don't plan on starting any construction jobs until I have insurance scopes and checks in my hand. Hopefully that will start up after a couple weeks into deer season.

I'm not much of a bird hunter but I did buy a super x seems to shoot well.  Haven't had any need to try the big shells in it yet.  I hope to get away and get something in the freezer this year though :)

Good Luck and be safe!   Dove Season just opened here in  NC, also
