Had 10 B-17 formations, escorted by 20+ P-47D-11s in FSO last night. Attacked by 109s and 190s in the historical setting of June 1943. Nice running fight over France, was a fun night overall.

some how quoted myself instead of hitting post :uhoh was trying to modify
It happens.   :rofl

I like to fly my B-17's high, when I'm doing a milk run.  I'm always listening though, in case someone wants me to hit a nearby town or something.
Just give a shout on VOX.  Always happy to help in the only way I know how (not in a fighter though.  lol  Unless you just need a decoy).

Nice to see the numbers tonight.

Tried for only 4 out of 50+ in a basic mission. Nothing too taxing.

Still miss the old AH2 Bomber folks.

I don't complain in this fashion much, but..  yeah.

Rest in Peace AH2

ET37 always had missions that were fun

Reminds me of a song lyric, "Are the best of the good times behind us now? And are the good times really over for good"    I for one, hope NOT

Thndregg, unfortunately the numbers are a BIG handicap, to those big, long missions.

You may be able to get more numbers to join you in missions that are more of a "Base take" effort. I know even then numbers are lacking for joiners, but something quick, a low alt precision field shut down and WF mission. May not be as exciting as those big missions, but it could help to bridge that gap a bit?

Don't mean to steal your thunder, Thunder, but I'd like to chip in here.

1stpar3 we have moved more toward attacking bases in one form or other rather than only doing strat runs.  The reason we were only running at strats was because there were only a couple, maybe 3 of us available even on our squad night.  Now that we've grown a bit, base-bashing becomes more of an option.  Just the other day we were talking about combining both... hit a strat and crush a base on the way home.

The problem with base attacks we've seen recently is there are too many people all doing their own thing and not wanting to budge from their plan.  For instance, we did go after a base not long ago, announced our intentions before we ever took off and several times along the way.  We made it known we were going for all the hangars first and would put whatever we had left on town.  What happened is, a few jabo fliers raced ahead of us and dropped a hangar or two, throwing them out of sequence.  We hit what was still up but even before we turned back hangars were coming back up.  So we had to go back and hit them again.  Now it's "I thought you were going to hit town?"  Well, yeah, we WERE, but with only 2 fighters of ours there and plenty upping, what good would it have done?

Or - we'll announce and within a minute two goons will take off and go orbit, but we can't get anyone to deack town or set a cap over town as we're getting to alt and getting to target.  It just gets so out of snych sometimes it gets frustrating to destroy a field when that field just isn't on the priority list of others.

Also, sometimes it looks like a base would be a great target but we hear from other players in country that they're having a great time furballing and they'd rather we didn't hit the hangars and stop the fight.  We respect that, because we're here to have fun ourselves not grief other players by killing their fun.

BUT - we're working on thing that will allow for fun yet not be tedious.  Each week we are trying new things to get something working.  ThunderEGG doesn't give up easily, and we are not out of ideas yet.  We always try to have fun, whether it's bombing strats or ammo bunkers or FHs.  We have some great guys in the 91st and when most can be here, it's an absolute blast.  Anyone is always welcome to come fly with us, whatever they choose to fly, be it bomber or an escort.

Squads are still a core community resource for organized groups doing things. And I suspect like my squad, are hesitant to tell anyone else what they are up to for an initiative. POTW ups as a group, we get followers to see what's at the other end of our trip because we like to break things as a group...Do any 3 bomber pilots in this game know how to communicate flying down slices of the town to drop it in one pass anymore?

Squads tend to be made up of like-minded people who like to work together (to take a base, or furball, or whatever). The squad I'm in has learned to make use of smaller numbers of people to obtain an objective, both because we're not a big squad and because we're not often on all at the same time. That usually means we are doing different things to further a big picture agenda (i.e. continued world dominance by the evil Bishop empire). And usually that also means we either have to join an ongoing protect or recruit non-squad members on country to do what needs to get done. I'm guessing you don't reach out to other people on country because you don't want to risk a shade getting intel that would doom the project? I get that, I guess: recently I asked for help getting to nit strats and an annoyed-with-me Bishop PMed a nit friend of his and told him how to intercept me. But that is so much the exception to the rule. Reach out to other teammates: usually you'll get the help you need.

As for the 3 sets of buffs in one pass thing, I never see that happen on bish any more, but since you only really need 1 set in AH3 to wf a town in one pass, multiple sets, though majestic, imo are inefficient. For people who are interested in the end result rather than the process, multiple buff sets are a luxury from a bygone era.
