Every time I log-in, if I'm able to log-in, after several minutes in get the message "switching to UDP" or something like that, whatever that means, and then the game logs me out.  If this doesn't correct itself shortly, I'm quitting the game and canceling my subscription.  I just don't have the patience for this sort of crap anymore!  This issue has been going on for quite a long time now.

It means something is wrong with your network connection. You might post this in technical support so they can help you to find out what it is and get it fixed.

check with your internet provider--reboot modem-check for programs running in the background--if its happening a lot its probably your internet and or program running in the background or the computer. if nobody else is getting that many discos its probably not the game.

I usually only get that message once maybe 2 or 3 months- and I have satellite internet.

Came back here to see if it was worth joining up again.  Played for a bunch of years until about 3 years ago, a move cross country caused a break from the game.  Joined back up early last year.  It just wasn't the same anymore.  Sparse crowd, no missions, weird maps.  I remember the fun we would have years ago with around 600 fliers logged in on a good night.  We would run some crazy missions, like 20-30 guys all flying B-17s low level just to shoot down the interceptors, or mass GV rushes.  Our squad (Alchemists)were always running missions, which to me was the fun of the game.   We had a couple of great leaders (chewie and flak) who were mission pros, and that makes all the difference. When I joined back up last year there was just nothing there, blah, very dull, small crowd, hard to find a good furball.  I sometimes miss the game but I think I will never find it again.  What kind of crowds do you get on a good night now?

It’s your ISP. I have Frontier and deal with it constantly. They replaced my router and it’s even worse now.

I have been here about 7-8 years now, the community and the squad in its different reincarnations is what is keeping me here, not the game itself.

I play other games, always with people I know, in a squad :

AH3
Cliffs of Dover, Blitz
War Thunder Tanks
Red Orchestra 2

Diversity is good when you get bored or the map suck, too few players, whatever reason.

True, for so many of us.  I've made friends for life.  Along with the pleasures of ordinary conversation in good times, they have supported me in my darkest moment.  Yet I have never met them in person.

I would never have met them at all, were it not for this game.

Whenever I see a veteran stomping off because he/she doesn't like something about the game, I think:  "Remember what you're losing."

Player numbers are the key. HT has been trying to increase interest in AH3 via internet ads and changes in game play, but the latter seem to have driven off some of the the mission-type long term players at the expense of trying to attract more minimal-attention-span newbies. Crowds when I left were maybe 160-180 on a good day prime time. If you're a fighter jock and available to play prime time it's probably still worth your while. If you're a GVer, bomber pilot, or mission-oriented player, not so much.

Hoping this is just a phase, but for the past month and a half I log after a single sortie, and that’s if I even decide to login at all.  FSO is keeping my sub but right now I’m at an all time low for MA gameplay.  I spent $1,400 bucks a year ago to play AH exclusively and it sucks im to this point already.  I’m trying new aircraft, vehicles, tactics etc but none of it is doing it for me.

Best thing might be to just not login at all for a month and hopefully the spirit is rejuvenated in 2018?

What do you guys do when interest in the game is in the dumps?

I've played off and on since the beginning of AH, you know, play a few months, lose interest, repeat. I've been back now for I dunno...three months. About a month or so ago I relented and joined a squad. It's completely changed the game for me. They're fun loving, freewheeling guys, whose don't pressure you to participate if you don't want. When they do organize an op, they're good at it.

Thanks TA's for taking me in!

I feel your pain. For me I still get that same thrill by flying with guys that I love flying with. People dont put up missions like they used to, and many times there arent enough people to join the missions anyway. But with 4 or 5 squaddies, we can get stuff done.

Unfortunately, the numbers problem, and subsequently almost every other problem, wont go away until HTC figures out a different way to make money instead of the antiquated and dying subscription method. Ive proposed my ideas. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
