Truss bridge from the towns
« on: December 04, 2017, 07:45:29 AM »
Skuzzy or Waffle, any way you can forward me the file for the truss bridge object (there's two of them in each town)?  I want to make a larger, longer version for an AvA terrain.  Same with the file for the fuel strat.

Thanks  :aok

Ah, you know that you can export them in the OE, right? It's one single object but you should know how to take it apart by now.
Easy in-game again.

Yes, I figured it out.  I'm doing the pontoon bridges first, then the truss bridge.

I got the Ludendorff Bridge covered.  Similar bridge files are available on the internet.  I'll download some and get them into the right format for AC3D, and just modify it.  There's one for a straight RR truss bridge, and one for the Sydney Harbor Bridge.  I can modify them to get them to look like the Ludendorff.

...then the truss bridge.

Isn't it a Through Arch Bridge? Don't want it collapsing all wrong  :old:

I can't make it collapse, too much work.  It's meant for an AvA terrain, for GV and ground attack fights.  Destroying the bridge would end the gaming session.  It will have destructible deck sections, though, that will regenerate.

Too bad. It would make for a great sub-game / focus of action.

Ludendorff was an Arch truss in the center, and a cantilever truss at each end..
With the support piers standing in the river.. Great pics are available.. But it really
doesn't have to be the Ludendorff, massive structure.. Unless for a scenario..

For some bridges, they used multiple piers with a Truss bridge between each..
Seen them with my own eyes! Game scale wise, these might fit better..

It would be easier to just animate one individual pier and span, and then repeat..
Linking them together to make it as long as necessary.. This might suit general
purpose gameplay better.. You could build or destroy/rebuild as many as you like..
