Where can I find a good, up to date, tutorial for the terrain editor? I've tried searching and I find instructions that are out of date.

Kanth has a good, basic video tutorial on how to get rolling with the TE.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMIrc6uIZk8
But there are a bunch of ways you can augment the TE's effectiveness, with things like L3DT Pro. L3DT has a couple of powerful tools that the TE doesn't have, and you can export the file out of L3DT and import it into the TE.
It's a lot of fun.
I have to drive my daughter back to college in a few minutes. When I get back I'll post some more thoughts.
