Virtual Signal Officer for Carrier Landings
« on: December 22, 2017, 09:29:52 AM »
Key combo/button for player to signal start of carrier approach and landing. You still have to fly the plane.

Virtual Signal Officer guides you in for landing.

Voila! The magic happens.
Leave that thing alone!
Relax said the Knight, man, we are programmed to receive.
You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.

+1 - would be nice for the VSO to tell me if I'm about to thunder in or I have a good approach. :)

Wouldn't mind having a signal light to warn that the carrier is going to change course within 30 seconds.

How would they know that? Delay any course inputs by 30 seconds? That would be great when trying to avoid bombers...

The carrier "knows" when it is 30 seconds from a programmed course change -- unless someone sets a new course, which would cause the "warning lamp" to light immediately.  So, if you are lining up for a landing and not paying attention to the text buffer, there would be an instant warning that the course was about to change.  I really don't mind not having a warning, but new players might benefit.

I thinking would be sweet to request clearance for take off and landing in addition to the signalman on the CV’s.

I don't think the 'benefit' outweighs the potential for problems it creates the way the wish was originally framed. Why not just ask for paddles that just show when you're less than a mile out +/- 20' from glide-slope. You can see if the boat turns. On top of that, you're suddenly off glide-slope if the ship turns and the paddles disappear. The paddles can appear in a small window in the upper left hand of the screen.
