I'll take the Greebo bit as an extra compliment. I'm not sure of the exact reason for the cowl camouflage. It certainly was not unique to this squadron, but it does seem to be a trait seen with more frequency than in other squadrons. Some cowlings even featured polka-dots in yellow or light blue.
