Private Text Broadcast List
« on: January 28, 2018, 10:39:10 AM »
Hello,

True we have "private" text channels and maybe this already exists; if not it would be good to have a private text broadcast list.  Here is the key point for this request: the list would be just those country team names in the list.

Each player could create their own list and name it anything they like. For example: "Not Spies".

In this way country messages and tactics can be safely communicated.

Thanks,

Slade  :salute

Well, you and your secret squirrel friends could choose a channel that's not 2 to communicate.  If you're concerned about the spiez you could also learn Navajo to confound them.

Wiley.
If you think you are having a 1v1 in the Main Arena, your SA has failed you.

Wiley thanks very much for the post.  I guess when you think about it, there is no compelling reason not to have this cool feature.  It does not take away from anyone's legit way to enjoy the game.

I just gave one example.  As you know though this type feature is very common in all the various messaging apps out today.

Some other lists could be:
  • Bomber pilots.
  • CAP pilots at base x
  • GVs
  • GVs at V39
  • Just New Pilots
  • Just Veteran Pilots
  • Pilots hunting for CV
  • etc.

I think it is only limited to imagination.

I think Hitech wants you to go through the agony of having to persuade players in real time to the efficacy of joining you on a channel to communicate your shared interests. Just the same as he will not allow the untuning of country or total squelching of everyone in a country. I've never gotten the feeling that Hitech is a fan of self segregation and micro group balkanization in the Melee arena like has become popular due to the cultural norms of social media impacting our society at large. The Melee area is just one big box of chocolates that you take what you get as you open the wrapper......

Just had a great business idea, RFID chip in each wrapper so you can let your Smart Phone tell you what to eat after you give it a detailed profile on what you like in chocolates. Then your smart phone can reach out to other smart phones who's person is looking for the same chocolate profile. And then you won't have to communicate with people who like things in their chocolate you don't like. Then you don't have to associate with people not like yourself because your smart phone will help you avoid what you don't like. :aok

The intent is not to limit any form of communication provided by HiTech.  To is to enable more common options.  If you could send a message to all the GV'ers at a given base would that be valuable? Sure!  How about sending a message to a bomber wing approaching a base? Or fighters en-route to get a CV? Or just all the guys in manned guns?

Could be really easy for the user to do too:

  • Click Add New List.
  • From list of all current country players on left move selected players to list on right.
  • Give the list a name.
  • Press Save.

Thanks for considering.  :salute

You could also utilize outside programs like ventrillo or teamspeak and password protect your room.   :noid
