This skin represents the Bf 109F-4 flown by Heinz Bär, group commander of I/Jg 77 in June 1942. First group had just transferred to Sicily from Russia and conducted raids over Malta before moving on to Tunisia. The yellow tactical markings of the Eastern Front were over painted with the white markings for the Mediterranean Front and the rear fuselage sides were given a heavy mottle of RLM 70 Black-green. Jg 77 would The rudder depicts the 113 air victories he had scored up to that point as well as the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords that he was awarded for reaching 100. Bär would achieve another 120 victories, 16 in the Me 262, and survived the war. He found work post-war as a test pilot and would die in a crash in 1957.
