Wow amazing finds, Lyric. Thank you!
This a/c is depicted as having been delivered with the US insignia (white star in blue circle), and the blue circle on the wing insignia (Upper left and lower right) has been left intact as a blue background to the white star with a smaller red soviet star painted inside the white star. On the fuselage insignia, the blue circle has apparently been painted over, but I haven't seen any evidence such as paint of a different shade or age, which is a bit of a mystery. Unless Bell delivered the a/c without a circular surround to the fuselage stars? The Russians couldn't match the paint color of the U.S. olive-green drab, so you often see a lighter, brighter green where they have tried to paint over some detail, or have made repairs.
Definitely seeing evidence of overpainting of portions of the "93" on the nose - almost as if this plane was formerly number "88" and portions were painted over to create a "93". However, it might also be the 9 and 3 were originally painted in a too-closed fashion, and overpainting was used to open up the 3 and 9 more for better readability at distance.
Finally I have seen this a/c with three thin white stripes, irregularly spaced on the upper left wing. I don't know what these are but have not seen photographic evidence of them - I've only seen them in profiles and models. But it is an interesting detail.
btw that model is one of the best-painted models I've ever seen.
