Country-3 Then I can build fun stuff.
« on: April 03, 2018, 12:36:09 PM »
One last country to create the topography and I get to lay down the fields and all the fun stuff that goes with it. And I get to be irritated by Hitech's upgraded resupply systems that I now have to include to get my terrain into the MA. Remember those convoys, trains and tugboat\barges? I'll be able to lay down cleaner bordered rivers so the bridges span them with out the occasional elevation mismatch tank stopper on an end. That will make it easier for me to create the GV micro terrain combat areas around fields I've been testing.

And what's up with that tiny island in the center of the pond? The pond's area is 2 sectors with one port per country at the mouth of the drain for each lake. There will be a CV\BB from each port. The island will force a response to the 3 mile buffer when you set a segment keeping the task groups at a slight angle to each other not allowing them closer than 6 miles when they pass in the center unless a task group is set to vector on a angle intercept. That still gives you 12 miles to the nearest shore 3 mile segment buffer so you can maneuver while battling it out with the other task groups. The only way to hide will be using the 18 mile haze distance. The island's tallest elevation will block the line of sight past it to another task group for a few minutes. World of War Ships tiny arenas had some eye opening strategies to keep ships at each other for fast fights after I watched a few hours of films. And all our bombers looking to sink ships should put a lot of "air targets" out there for fighters to chew on. I'm still thinking about how the port's will be setup to make them a PITA to capture so your task groups will have a place to call home. It will give players something to work at to eventually own all three ports and their task groups. :O

Hey are you going to put one of those small one VH vehicle bases anywhere? IMO, they're a riot to fight around!

If Hitech would code it so I could use one in the same place I would put a town for a small airfield.

Looks like Greebo setup those on CraterMA for AH3 to give GVers a place to sit on a high point and long range people as a concession to taking that away when he converted the AH2 version with the TT pit to AH3, and he removed the AH2 TT pit. It would make for an interesting third capture option. Right now I can either attach a town to an airfield or place a map room on the airfield. This little jewel would start some quick activity since the capture is take down two auto guns and run in troops. And I could set it on a rise looking down on the spawns or even raise the spawns and have a no-mans land lowland between them. I would only use it on a few feilds per country since the capture can be done by the M3 bringing the troops. Just pop the two quad 20mm AI guns with the 50cal and run in the troops. You see that every time my terrain BowlMA is up in the center tank combat caldera. I put them there to observe how they would be defended and captured.

I think it is worth consideration by Hitech as a third capture option for airfields. Maybe even expand it a bit with some of those new walls as a tank trap maze. I'm not sure what the mechanism would be so you can spawn from it's hanger to defend the map room. Just make an MA builders rule, when it's used as a capture object that it cannot have any spawns originating from it. If he gives me an object like this, I can place it in my new terrain at 1 or 2 feilds so he can observe the outcomes and replace them with towns if it's a zero. Maybe allow those sheds that protect the hanger door to be bombed into rubble so tanks coming out are not protected by them and when the airfield vHanger is down it won't spawn anything. Waffle could turn a 1x1 with this in the center into a tree, wall, and berm loaded maze which would force it's location placement next to airfields to the terrain rules.

Watching tank combat and map room capture on my terrains with the things I've setup, fast ridiculous things like this are very attractive. Other wise, like at A44 on Mindnao, what tankers want is to sit 400ft above the airfield on a ridge 2400yds away and spend the night greifing a whole airfield, over and over and over. That is not balanced game play.

That's OK, I'm the one who killed the sniper at A44 last week on that 400ft ridge with a 2500yd shot from my tank. All of my GV expertin countrymen decided the best place to shoot from was under the base of the ridge snuggled safely behind things. So all of their rounds shot in a flat line over the top of the sniper's turret. Boy were they throwing out advice to each other and whissed off being knocked off one at a time by a single greifer sitting safely 400ft above a runway killing anything that spawned or stuck it's nose out. I pulled back far enough so I could include ballistic arc in my shot and blew his turret off. Against a 400ft ridge with a sniper sitting just back of the edge, that was the only shot available. Yeah after 16 years I know so little about this game.

LOL!!! rightttttt.

I only piped up on the GV dar as I dont see where its an issue EXCEPT to those who dont want to fight, but just pick off defenseless GVs. As for Bustrs comment about those that sit on the top of a ridge to "spend the night greifing a whole airfield, over and over and over", I dont have a problem with them, I think Im at least 3 to 1 KD against them with my little old jug  :devil
