mpbs question
« on: April 07, 2018, 01:03:44 PM »
I am getting ready to move to home ownership again, finally.

I am looking at Verizon.

Can anyone tell me if this speed works GREAT for AH3?

"High Speed Internet Enhanced 1.1 - 3 Mbps"

Thanks!

The speed doesn't really matter, keeping the speed constant and stable is much more important. So even the 1.1 Mbps will suffice but if it fluctuates between 1.1 and 3 in irregular intervals you'll be bouncing all around the screen.

That is Verizon DSL and works great here in SW VA. The only thing with that DSL is you can not play AH3 and have your wife watch her Chick Flicks on Netflix at the same time... :) Where I am it was the only option which we finally got about a year and a half ago.

Yup, Netflix is the DEVIL :furious Or is the wife the Devil, and Netflix just the tool of AH destruction :uhoh  Did I say that out loud? :bolt:

I don't know if your options are limited by being in a rural area, but mine are.  I just recently got AT&T fixed wireless which works great.  They put an external antenna on your home and I usually get about 50 mbs, but they guarantee 10 mbs.  170 Gb per month for $60 and $10 for each additional 50 Gb.   Make sure to use the term fixed wireless when looking for this.  I used a verizon voice data modem prior to this, but they hard limit the data to 15 Gb, then slow to 1g speed about the same as dial up.

It's ridiculous that they have to base their rates on usage, rather than the service itself. The Internet isn't going to wear out because you use it, yet they charge you like they can only get so much life out of the Internet.

900kbps up, and 16Mbps down is what we get.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

ISP's have to base it on usage as they only have X amount of bandwidth themselves.  No ISP on the planet has a 1 to 1 ratio, on the bandwidth they have versus what they sell.
